It can be a great struggle to select the right .22 revolver.

But if you have a clear understanding of how these styles of weapons operate, it might not be too challenging to find.

If you want something fantastic not just for home defense, but also for everyday target practice, competitive shooting and other relevant purposes, the best quality revolver should be your target.

To ensure that you choose the right .22 revolver, we have listed eight of the strongest revolvers on the market today.

Before we dig through the list itself, we’re going to ask about how reliable a .22 revolver is and whether it’s the same as all the others.

We’ll also provide you with a short list of certain aspects to watch for before picking your own .22 revolver.

How reliable is a Revolver of .22 Caliber?

The precision can differ based on the model of .22 revolver you are using.

There have been users reporting to have used them to hunt for varmint and hit their targets from as much as 50 yards away.

Any handguns are useful at near ranges between 10 and 25 yards and are reliable.

It’ll all depend on how they’re used. For eg, in tournaments, whether the targets are placed from 25 and 50 yards, a .22 revolver would be effectively accurate.

Are all .22 revolvers equal?

Quick reply: no. Not every .22 revolver would be the same for a few factors, to give you a clearer description.

Second, the scale and style may be different. Some revolvers will be slightly smaller and others will be slightly bigger.

Performance can vary from firearm to firearm, too.

One may be reasonably reliable at about 25 to 30 yards out and another will be able to go further.

Although there might be the same uses for this style of firearm, there are certain attributes and specifications that suggest that not all .22 revolvers are made same.

What is a Top Great .22 Revolver?

There are a few attributes and qualities that can make a .22 revolver stand out from the rest of the collection.

Yeah, a number of .22 revolvers are on the market.

But most of them somehow or other do not pass the test. You’ll need to know how to differentiate between a great .22 revolver and one that’s not as performance consistent.

Here are a few items to aim for when picking a revolver:

Precision suits your Usecase

Any .22 revolvers, as stated earlier, would be useful in one or another use.

They are essentially correct, from 25 to 50 yards away, using the competition case.

If you keep precision to a high degree, these revolvers may be used for hunting or target shooting.

Although you have a clear understanding of what a .22 revolver is supposed to be used for, bear in mind how reliable it is and be sure it is the right match.

Fitting the budget

These eight weapons are worth the money, if money is a bit of a challenge or whether you have resources to play around with.

If you’re on a cap, what’s crucial is that you can spend it in the best quality and value you can manage.

Never lose consistency, in order to save money.

That will result in buying a revolver where the reliability is in doubt.

Designed to last

The revolvers on this page are constructed of high-quality materials.

That means they’re made to last you a long time as long as you properly take care of them.

That implies needing to clean the inside and outside of the weapon.

Not only can it extend your revolver’s existence, it will also avoid any jamming or other durability problems that can pose a danger to your protection.

The following is a compilation of the currently on the market eight finest .22 revolvers.

The faster you are able to load this, the stronger you will be.

It shoots easily, loads easily, and offers you a solid score that might just be called second to none.

If you’re a gun sucker and want nothing more than a style that’s going to stick out as a competitive weapon, it could be up your lane.

Verdict: Best Hunting .22 Revolver

The Ruger SP101 has the strength and the potential to fire in action to make this your go-to weapon.

Do not make an error, it will stick out as the sort of firearm you’ll need for each case.

Why do I need to get a new .22 revolver?

For certain uses, purchasing a new .22 revolver is necessary.

And with this revolver you get to experience a few advantages. The criteria are:

Good for concealed carrying

Many of such .22 revolvers are lightweight enough to carry concealed.

The smaller they are, the higher their likelihood of being carried on a belt.

You can carry lawfully and legitimately beyond your home from there (depending on the jurisdiction).

Check to buy a belt, and if you want to take your gun everywhere you go, you’ll need to use one.

Excels at Target Shooting and Self-Defense

For many uses, the revolver is perfect. Yet it’s claimed to stick out as a firearm and can be used either in a case of self-defense or target shooting.

No matter what, you have a gun at your side and can shoot a decent amount of bullets.

And you’ll be able to reload quickly as and when you need to.

More economical than other handguns

The .22 is undoubtedly one of the most economical in terms of handguns and even cartridges compared with other calibers like the 9 mm.

This is excellent news for those who are searching for a gun to carry concealed or other things who do not have enough money to mess around with.

Verdict

Be sure to find one that fits to your favor, no matter what your goal or intention is.

Make sure to take good care of this and, in exchange, it will take care of you.

Trend Report Small Caliber: Short and Long Rifles in Caliber .22

Even if, as always, one came across many of the classics mentioned at the beginning, the dominant theme of the SHOT Show 2020 was the particularly large number of new products from the small caliber sector.

The SHOT Daily – the daily magazine during the SHOT Show – also featured news about the new products from the rimfire segment.

Here is a brief overview of the caliber that seems to be experiencing a real revival, even in the land of (almost) unlimited weapon possibilities.

Due to the abundance of novelties, however, we have not listed everything.

Otherwise it would simply go beyond the scope.

The first small caliber pistol from GLOCK : G 44

Presented shortly before the SHOT Show, the Austrians are rounding off their range of calibers.

In the USA the new pistol was also very well received and many hands wanted to touch the new GLOCK.

“It is a cheap method to train with a gun, because the ammunition is not so expensive”. said one of the visitors at the GLOCK stand.

The advantages are obvious: lower ammunition costs, with the dimensions of a large calibre pistol.

But you have already seen everything about this weapon at all4shooters.

But the GLOCK 44 was no exception. It is fully in line with the trend towards the small rimfire caliber .22 l.r. also for pistols.

Want more examples?

KelTec P17, new pistol in caliber .22 l.r.

A total of 17 shots fit into this pistol, which is said to cost just 199 US dollars.

Unloaded, the gun weighs 306 grams with a 100 mm barrel. Here at all4shooters.com you will find all details in our report.

RUGER Mark IV Target and Lite Rack LCP II in .22 l.r.

RUGER showed its new Mark IV, which got the name Target.

The special thing about this pistol in caliber .22 l.r. is surely the so-called Bull Barrel.

A bit top-heavy when shooting, but this gun impresses by its shooting behaviour and its precision.

How it shoots live, you can see here. In addition RUGER brings with the Lite Rack LCP II a .22 l.r. version of the “concealed carry” model in .380 ACP.

Although the pistol is very compact, it has a capacity of 10+1 rounds.

The price in the USA is only 350 USD, making the gun an inexpensive training tool

But there were also many small caliber versions of the long guns.

The reason is actually understandable. The sport discipline NRL 22 (National Rifle League) is very trendy in the USA and finds more and more followers.

But also the growing enthusiasm for PRS matches leads to the fact that many shooters prepare for competitions in the smaller caliber .22 l.r.

Here are the news from the SHOT Show 2020 in long rifles:

CZ 457 Varmint in caliber .22 l.r.

CZ-USA presented at SHOT Show 2020 the first light alloy chassis repeating rifle in the shape of the model 457 Varmint Precision Chassis in caliber .22 Long Rifle.

The small caliber rifle is available in the barrel lengths 16.5″/420 mm and 24″/610 mm – for only 999 US dollars each.

That is a word and we are curious about availability and prices in Europe.

SAVAGE Arms brings the small bore bolt action rifles B22 and A22

The former new model is available in .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire (HMR), .22 Long Rifle and .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMR).

As a small caliber self loading rifle the model is called A22 in .22 l.r. – it is available in new “Precision” versions with MDT light alloy chassis as well as with adjustable shoulder rest.

The models cost $599 each in the USA.

Volquartsen Firearms offers the Summit in caliber .17 WSM

In a report it was even already called the ” edge fire miracle”.

The US enterprise positioned itself already many years ago as edge fire specialist, which offers both edge fire pistols and long guns.

The new Summit is based on the Ruger 10/22, so the magazines and other parts fit the Volquartsen.

Designed for small-game hunting, prices vary from $1,135 to $1,383.

KRISS Vector – new variant in .22 l.r.

The KRISS company also presented a new version of the Vector in caliber .22 l.r.

The 22 caliber carbine impresses above all with its futuristic appearance.

We shot it at the Industy Day at the Range and can say that it is a good and well-balanced weapon, which is especially suitable for plinking and fun shooting.

Bergara B14 R22 – small caliber premiere of the Spaniards

This is the first repeater from the Spanish manufacturer in .22 l.r..

The model is built on a Remington 700 base. The stock has multiple adjustments and all the usual parts of a Remington 700 fit.

The gun has match quality and costs about 1.150 USD in the USA.

Christensen Arms Ranger 22 – a high-end model in .22 l.r.

For under 800 USD you can get a very interesting high-end weapon from Christensen Arms.

The new model is not based on a Remington 700 design, but is a complete in-house development for small game hunting and target shooting.

The optics impresses with a carbon stock and the barrel is also made of carbon. For this the price is a bang.

Also with ammunition: new offers from US manufacturers, which fuel the current trend towards .22 caliber
Federal brought a whole range of new ammunition types in the rimfire segment to the SHOT Show 2020, sometimes only in new containers, but also with real innovations.

Under the Remington brand there are new rimfire subsonic ammunition with a 40 Grains HP bullet, available in packs of 50 or 100.

These cost then 5.27 or 10.49 dollar – prices with which one gets tears in the eyes in th USA already.

In addition, Browning could not be lumpen and brought two new ammunition sorts within the edge fire range to Las Vegas.

We shot them for you on Range Day. More about this in our video of Industry Day 2020.

New products in caliber .22 l.r. : Our trend analysis from the SHOT Show 2020

Even if it seems like a lot now, these were not even all the new products in the field of edge lighting that we came across at the SHOT Show 2020.

But of course we talked to a lot of Americans on site about the special fascination of rimfire shooting. We found out about different motivations, which we analyzed:

On the one hand the fun

One of our interlocutors said that it is incredibly much fun to go into the garden, put up cans and train your shooting skills from 50 or 80 meters.

Plinking is what they call it in the USA. But it also works on a shooting range and on targets and is simply fun.

Another aspect is the training

It can be trained with weapons in rimfire caliber as well as with those in the central fire segment, especially with regard to procedures and handling.

Particular focus: the costs

All this can also be produced in caliber .22 l.r. – but at a fraction of the price of large caliber ammunition.

The Americans also use the rimfire caliber for hunting, for example for squirrels.

But what does all this mean for Europe and especially for the USA?

Firstly, of course, that the Americans do not think only in terms of the large caliber standard, but also appreciate the smaller calibers.

On the other hand, however, it probably means that they cultivate a completely different gun culture in Europe.

Even though many things are (still) freely available in some states in the USA, many Americans switch to small calibers.

Because they want to have fun and they see a benefit in inexpensive hunting or training.

Many also use this small caliber to teach their youngsters how to shoot

One may be strained thus whether the trend continues, whether to this extent also to Europe comes, or whether already next year another Hype appears.

The next IWA is scheduled for March 2020.

Will the upswing in the 22er segment also continue there? We are staying on it.

In any case, one thing is clear for Germany: the capacity restrictions for magazines under the new gun legislation for 2020 do not apply to the .22 l.r. caliber – maybe one more motivation?

And it is certainly no coincidence that a successful manufacturer like GLOCK relies on the small rimfire caliber even for its pistols.

We stay on the ball and are curious to see which of the new models presented here will actually find their way to Europe.
