Purchasing a build kit doesn’t allow the same flexibility amount as buying a single component individually, but it helps you to enjoy the excitement of creating your own AR-15.

6th Best AR-15 Build Kit: Bushmaster Firearms AR-15 Lower Parts

Bushmaster Firearms AR-15 Lower Parts Kit

Pros

  • Fits most AR-15 Lower Receivers
  • Very high quality parts
  • Great pistol grip

Cons

  • Trigger not the best quality

6th Best AR-15 Build Kit – What recent users say?

A number of new users were very pleased with what was included in the build kit, as promised.

Within a few minutes both of them installed every single part without a single problem.

The pieces should match the lower receivers without problem.

What makes it one of the Best AR-15 Build Kit?

It contains all of the big and small parts in one kit.

That is usually what you need, too, in a lower receiver package. Not just that, each of them is always ready to install and to do what they are meant to do.

You’re going to have a completely assembled trigger and shooting system ready to go so you finally bring it together.

Of course one of the strongest aspects is the pistol grip.

Made from high-quality polymer, it makes superior grip in any conditions.

So if it’s nice weather outside or raining like crazy, you’ve got a decent grip on your gun.

The Bushmaster Firearms manufacturer of AR-15 type rifles has gained its prestige and fame.

They also sell this iconic rifle with widely esteemed and inexpensive packages.

The Bushmaster AR-15 lower parts package provides a carefully picked variety of parts with everything you need to complete your build.

The package does not contain the lower spring, the buffer tube, buffer, or spring.

The lower parts kit for the Bushmaster comprises of an injection molded pistol grip-a traditional A2-style grip with the same form of high-density polymer trigger guard.

The set comes with a single-stage trigger featuring a strong trigger pull characteristic of the military or defensive weapon.

The majority of the internal parts are built on mil-spec which helps you to complete or refurbish a stripped receiver AR-15 / M16.

This group of components has a standardized coating of the surface of average finish and consistency.

For whom is this AR-15 Build Kit best suited?

This will make a lower receiver package ideal for purely construction purposes.

This does not fit upgrades, since you would have too many pieces to deal with with this package on your own.

So whether you’re in the midst of constructing or are about to build an AR-15 rifle, you’d be unwise to skip out on the chance to give this kit a closer look.

Verdict: 6th Best AR-15 Build Kit

The Bushmaster Firearms LLC AR-15 Lower Parts Package contains all that a builder needs to create a complete lower receiver AR-15.

7th Best AR-15 Build Kit: Brownells’ AR-15 Receiver Set w/Lower Parts Kit & Stock

Brownells' AR-15 Receiver Set w/Lower Parts Kit & Stock

7th Best AR-15 Build Kit

This 5.56×45 mm AR-15 receiver package is produced specifically for Brownells and comprises of field-proven modules, with a lower parts kit and stock.

The full upper receiver comes with a 16 “barrel M4-profile featuring a carbine-length gas system and a flash hider A2.

The traditional upper flat-top receiver A3 is machined from aluminum forged 7075 T6.

It has 10 “handguards with polymer and a KeyMod rail mechanism.

The upper receiver package comes with the adapter cover port for ejection and mounted forward assist.

The package also contains a basic MPI checked bolt carrier group and aluminum billet charging handle constructed of 6061-T6.

This kit is completed by a Mil-spec M4-style carbine customizable stock.

The whole stock assembly is a combination of nylon-reinforced aluminum and fiberglass.

It is highly impact resistant. The most complex aspect of this set is a lower Anderson receiver of 80 per cent.

This of course calls for more sophisticated gunsmithing at the armory stage.

The Anderson mil-spec LPK (lower parts kit) contains a hammer trigger, a pistol grip (A2-style), and all other internals.

You’ll need to bring the parts together

The principal parts of the AR-15 relate to your gun’s accuracy and reliability.

The more confident you are with your firearm, the easier you fire with it and the more reliable the outcome would be.

Being specifically conscious of any of those components can help you create a more stable rifle.

Upper and Lower Receiver

An AR’s upper receiver or lower receiver are the rifle’s core parts, which are the keys to the integrated structure of the AR.

Many receivers can operate on every AR so usually, having an upper / lower pair from the same firm would remove every fit and finish issues.

Receivers come in different finishes and looks but polymer and aluminum are common choices.

You can select a high-quality construction material to guarantee that the weapon absorbs some damage arising from everyday usage.

Forged lower receivers are the most common type of lower receiver on the market, whereas recipients of castings are less popular and costlier.

Grip of the Rifle

The way you carry your firearm will make or break your shot when firing.

Since the grip is your personal attachment to the weapon, it should feel normal in your palm, as though it were your arm extension.

Any pain you experience from the handle will affect your shooting, whether due to protrusions, rough edges or the wrong scale.

Best AR 15 Build Kit

If your hand is heavy, suggest adjusting the grip of the stock to a bigger one that looks like it’s built for you.

There are a range of fantastic grips available, and you can pick the grip you think is perfect for you.

Typical grip on an AR-15 is a pistol grip, although they are banned in certain states including California.

Featureless grips will help you fulfill the regulatory specifications of certain states.

Handguard

By having a new handguard, you are not only enhancing the appearance of the weapon, but also the safety, precision and flexibility of mounting accessories.

The handguards come in different styles, including free-float or drop-in and with or without rails.

They can be constructed of a number of products.

Not only do free-floating handguards look fine, they also deliver small improvements in precision over conventional 2-piece, drop-in styles.

Free-floating handguards often provide sufficient room for adding accessories through their MIL-STD-1913 rails.

For eg, if you intend to use the AR-15 for shooting, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to install a night vision system, extra optics and a holographic sight.

Drop-in handguards on the other hand are often simpler to mount or change out.

Rifle, mid-length, carbine, and pistol are the most popular types of the handguards.

In general, you can adapt your handguard to the length of your gas system, but if you have a low-profile gas shield, you will be allowed to fit a longer handguard on a shorter gas system.

Barrel of your rifle

The barrel is affecting the rifle’s weight and overall efficiency.

A lined barrel with titanium, melonite, or nitride coatings can contribute to the barrel’s life, expanding it by more than 5000 rounds shot.

Best AR 15 Build Kit

Except with the more costly ARs, a barrel’s precision will degrade with time as a result of thousands of shoots.

The barrel of the AR-15 has a lifetime of between 10,000 and 20,000 bullets, in which most exhibit extreme lack of precision.

Another aspect to note is the barrel’s twist rate, since this would decide which rifle bullet would work better. If you intend to use longer or heavier bullets you would need a quick twist rate like 1:7.

Using a higher twist rate for lighter bullets (55-grain, or less). The 1:8 or 1:9 twist ratios would fit better with a larger variety of ammunition.

AR-15 Trigger

Some AR-15s come with major triggers but some might not. The same happens to build kits.

For certain people the regular mil-spec trigger offered on several AR-15 rifles works great.

But looking closely at what trigger is used when designing your weapon, or if you like a different trigger to increase your precision and render every shot a delight.

You might opt for a drop-in trigger which makes installing a new trigger very fast and simple.

A single case holds all internal components of the device, including the bolt, sear, spike, springs, and disconnector.

If the old trigger is replaced, the installation of a drop-in button is as easy as lowering the case into the lower receiver and locking the button case with the keys.

Charging handle

Other uses involve ejecting unfired bullets and expended cartridges, checking for blockages and bullets in the rifle, and removing rear-locked bolts.

Best AR 15 Build Kit

One explanation why many shooters change their charging handles is that the stock handles are built for shooters with good hands.

If you’re left-handed, try using an ambidextrous charging handle on either hand.

Shooters love ambidextrous handles in tactical scenarios, as they can be used for quick, precise shots from either side.

For your new charging handles, you can select from a range of fabrics, colors and functions.

Some also mitigate blowback impact by moving gases in another direction.

Rifle Stock

Stocks come in two categories, set and collapsible forms. Although fixed stocks are durable and perfect for precise firing, there are also plenty of collapseable stocks that provide both precision and adaptability in a good fit.

You’ll need a collapsible stock to enable shooters of various sizes to easily fire your rifle.

Often, a collapsible stock is helpful for firing when wearing armour and is suitable for urban warfare and populated environments.

A folding stock will be very handy to reduce your rifle profile while it is being transported in a bag or for storage.

For the AR-15, a folding stock would require an adapter, since the normal AR buffer tube / receiver extension device forbids a folding stock being used.

Whatever stock you select, whether it’s commercial or military grade, you can adapt the fit to the correct buffer tube capacity.

Rifle Gas System

A customizable gas block helps control the cycling process more efficiently.

This decreases the perceived recoil and the increase in the barrel, as well as other annoyances when you fire.

Any shooters may like to test out the alternate piston gas method, which has advantages and drawbacks over the direct impingement.

However, it’s much less popular so you may have difficulty finding it in a construction kit.

AR-15 Sights

Best AR 15 Build Kit

The AR model is perfect for customisation, so updating the firearm with the finest optics or sights you can afford makes sense.

Optics will make a big difference in your precision and help you to reliably see your goals.

There are, of course, a lot of scopes out there, including red dots, holographic images and composite sights.

Others are oriented towards firing at night, some have very high magnifications and others are fitted with sophisticated reticles that take the falling of the projectile into account.

But the reach would not be a component of a construction package.

Before investing in a weapon you should realize what you want to use the pistol for.

Holographic sights put a reticle with a laser on the target, helping you hitting the target.

They are lighter and make a wider field of view relative to red dot sights, which use a partly mirror-coated objective lens.

Red dot sights come in both head-up and tube-body models.

How to Assemble an AR-15

An AR-15 is among the easiest to mount rifles. It doesn’t take a lot of experience or advanced equipment to create an AR-15.

If you’re a little acquainted with disassembling or repairing a weapon, building an AR-15 would take no longer than 10 minutes.

The rifle consists mainly of two parts, the upper receiver and the lower receiver. The other elements only match these two together.

The best practice is to begin with the lower receiver which is finished.

Start by putting the lower receiver on a vise and mounting the catch for the magazine, accompanied by the catch for the trigger, the pivot lever, the toggle for safety and the pistol grip.

Next comes the assembly of the trigger which involves the trigger, the hammer and the trigger guard.

If it has been finished, mount the buffer tube and push pins away.

You may also use a punch and hammer to smash the castle nut of the buffer channel, for extra protection.

Now move onto the upper receiver and mount the port cover for ejection, forward assist, barrel, gas block, and handguard, accompanied by the installation of the gun.

Upon completion of the lower and upper receivers, add all other attachments, such as mounts and suppressors.

Make sure all the parts are lubricated after each assembly step, so that the rifle works properly. If you want a comprehensive instruction manual please find a video on youtube.

Final Verdict

When customizing your AR-15, bear in mind the reason for which you are going to use it, and prepare it accordingly.

By switching to the best-fitting attachments you can buy, you can try to fix any comfort or ergonomic problems with the grip, trigger, and handguard.

High-quality magazines and sights will also make a huge difference in your shooting experience, because with good magazines you will reload quicker and more consistently and aim more accurately with the correct lens.

Building an AR-15 out of a construction kit is a perfect opportunity to learn more about the rifle’s workings. It often offers a large degree of satisfaction from knowing you have done it yourself!

Wheeler Delta Series AR-15 Armorer’s Professional Kit from STROBL.CZ: Cleaning and Maintenance of AR-15

Wheeler Delta Series AR-15 Armorer's Professional Kit

The AR-15 platform, due to its design, places special demands on the user in terms of cleaning and maintenance.

Due to its standardized design, it also offers the advantage that manufacturers can bring specially adapted maintenance kits to the market.

We have now received the “Delta Series AR-15 Armorer’s Professional Kit” from Wheeler from its partner STROBL.CZ and presents it.

For owners of the AR-15 the question of cleaning the shooting equipment arises:

Although the standard accessories like cleaning stick, rag and oil can help you, the complete maintenance is not possible with it.

There is simply a lack of tools and special care products. Kits tailored to the AR platform can help here.

This saves you the trouble of buying the appropriate equipment individually.

Our partner STROBL.CZ sent us the “Wheeler Delta Series AR-15 Armorer’s Professional Kit” for testing and we took a closer look at it.

It was tested with a retro AR from Windham Weaponry: The A1 Government.

The features of the Wheeler Delta Series AR-15 Armorer’s Professional Kit

The kit comes in a rather inconspicuous Cordura carrying case, which seems relatively small compared to its contents. Because inside it is:

  • a weapon holder which is adapted to the AR-15
  • one AR-15 combination tool
  • a torque wrench
  • Holding clamp for the upper with guide for the gas tubes
  • a shelf mat with AR-15 exploded view drawing
  • Tool Installation Tool for Pivot Pin and Hammer Pin
  • AR Front-Sight Tool
  • Delta Ring Tool
  • a credit key
  • AR-15 guide piece to the barrel
  • an adjustable holder for the tilted AR
  • barrel brush, cal. .22
  • Closure carrier brush
  • Chamber brush
  • Magazine or Upper Receiver Brush
  • Nylon brush holder
  • Double-sided cleaning brush
  • Cleaning scratches

The highlights in the portrait: The workbench

The weapon mount / workbench of the kit consists essentially of 3 parts:

The base is made of solid metal. On it there are 2 holders for the weapon.

So the lower receiver with the empty magazine slot can be attached to one part.

This imitates a magazine and thus fixes the rifle. The forearm or barrel is then placed on a curved holder.

Both parts are adjustable in angle to allow easy maintenance.

This way the AR remains open: The adjustable holder

In order to keep the AR-15 in the cleaning position and to ensure comfortable working, an adjustable part is included in the set, which is attached to the lower receiver with the rear pin.

The upper part can then be inserted into the corresponding counterpart in the upper.

This secures the AR in this position and allows for example a safe and easy cleaning of the barrel.

The AR-15 Combi Tool, Delta Ring Tool and Torque Wrench

The set also includes a combination tool. With this tool you can do a lot of work on the AR.

This is also ensured by the practically attached bits.

A delta ring tool is included for easy removal or replacement of the shaft without assistance.

The torque wrench is important for retightening certain parts with the right force.

The guide sleeve

The enclosed guide sleeve can be inserted in place of the closure carrier.

It is hollow on the inside and thus allows the passage of plastering equipment.

This is practical to avoid contamination of the cartridge bearing by barrel cleaning agent that does not belong there.

It also prevents damage to the cartridge chamber due to unclean insertion of the cleaning rod, chain etc. into the chamber.

Attention: Many things work, some things must not be

Wheeler Delta Series AR-15 Armorer's Professional Kit

Some of the tools – such as the combination wrench – are used, among other things, to perform work that in the USA may only be performed by qualified personnel.

This includes, for example, removing the barrel. So before you start to disassemble your AR-15 completely, you should consult the firearms law to make sure that the work I am planning to do is not a firearm that requires a permit.

Wheeler Delta Series AR-15 Armorer’s Professional Kit: The Quality

The production quality of the parts is in the upper middle range.

With such a kit, the user must be aware that the tools cannot be an absolute professional asset.

Nevertheless, the quality of the kit has convinced us to the extent that they have no worries that even diligent AR hobbyists will have years of pleasure.

Furthermore we are talking about a price at STROBL.CZ of about 309$. The single purchase of the parts would be – if at all possible – much more expensive.

Our conclusion about the Delta Series AR-15 Armorer’s Professional Kit from STROBL.CZ:

The choice of the tools convinced us. The quality is also right for the price segment.

The kit is highly recommended for shooters who like to modify their AR a lot (of course with everything that is allowed).

New from Leupold in 2020: VX-3i series with Zero-Lock and new VX-Freedom riflescopes especially for AR-15 rifles

riflescopes especially for AR-15 rifles

SHOT Show 2020 / New from Leupold: Expansion of the model range in the VX-3i and VX-Freedom riflescope series.

At the SHOT Show 2020, US giant Leupold & Stevens from Beaverton, Oregon, presented a whole series of interesting technical optimizations in the entry-level class VX-3i.

And the brand’s “lifestyle” is also written in capital letters in the USA, so that in addition to clothing and equipment, the company now also offers an in-house “Eyewear” line of shooting sports eyewear.

No fewer than four new riflescopes with sophisticated features in the form of the “ZeroLock” (ZL) zero function on the adjustment turrets as well as a “Custom Dial System” (CDS) ballistic turret tailored to customer requirements are the first additions to Leupold’s popular VX-3i series.

The ZL equipment prevents unintentional adjustments/meeting point position changes and enables reliable, accurate return to the previously selected setting after adjustment work has been carried out.

A custom-made ballistic ring for the altitude adjustment turret is included in the scope of delivery.

The ballistic ring is custom-made according to the customer’s requirements for a specific type of ammunition/laboration and its speed under average atmospheric conditions.

In practice, this allows the bullet trajectory to be compensated for and adjustments to be made extremely quickly to hit the target cleanly.

The new VX-3i CDS-ZL optics are available with 1″/24.5 mm and 30 mm center tube diameter without and with side focus in the magnifications 3.5-10×40 and 4.5-14×40 with duplex and wind plex reticle.

With these new riflescopes, models with ZeroLock technology are available for the first time below the price segment of Leupold VX-5HD optics.

Leupold VX Freedom: 5 new rifle scopes for AR-15 rifles

riflescopes especially for AR-15 rifles

Five new riflescopes, designed to match the AR-15 weapon platform, complete the Leupold VX Freedom family.

All new models feature milliradian adjustment mechanisms and reticles and are pre-calibrated for the extremely popular .223 Remington cartridge.

The new additions consist of a 1.5-4×20 with 30 mm tube and illuminated FireDot MIL ring reticle, a 3-9×40 and 4-12×40 with 1″ center tube and 223 Mil TMR reticle, and a 4-12×40 and 6-18×40 with 30 mm center tube diameter and 223 Mil Side Focus TMR reticle.

Reproducible mechanics with easy-to-use controls and high optical performance thanks to the “Twilight Light Management System” with multi-coating of the lenses are among the standards of the Leupold VX- Freedom AR riflescopes.

Leupold SX-4 Pro Guide HD spotting scopes

Leupold offers powerful monocular observation optics with the models SX-4 Pro Guide HD 15-45×65 and 20-60×85 with straight or angled viewing.

The generously designed “Eyebox” reduces premature eye fatigue during long-term use and the optical performance is intended to significantly reduce stray light compared to competitors, as well as to prolong a possible observation by 30 minutes in the event of poor light conditions (twilight).

Of course, the robust spotting scopes, which have been tested under extreme conditions, have threads on the underside of the housing for mounting on a tripod and are delivered in practical, padded transport bags.
