6 Best AR-15 Pistol Cases
Are you hunting for the perfect pistol case for the AR-15? If so, you’re in the right spot, then.
It is important to find a suitable case to store your AR-15 pistol when it is not in operation, particularly when you want to keep it protected so that it will readily available.
You want to shield it from all sorts of dust or other natural elements that may harm your weapon at the same time.
We have taken the liberty of hand-picking six of the best AR-15 pistol cases that are currently on the market to support you along with your decision process.
We’ll speak about the styles of pistol cases that are accessible and how you can pick one for your own use before we get to the list.
Types of Cases for Pistols
A few types of gun cases are currently on the market. Any of them has their own benefits and drawbacks, but they are all meant to provide the AR-15 weapon and the attachments that go with it with storage space.
Some of the more common varieties are these:
Cases with Hard Shells
To begin with, we have one of the pistol cases that is more tried and tested, those that come with a hard shell. They are robust, waterproof, dust-proof, crush-proof, and almost indestructible.
The one sort of case that can have the utmost of protection for your AR-15 pistol is definitely a hard shell case.
One of the main limitations that are present in these conditions is that some of them might be a little heavier in weight.
Plus, they can be bulky as well and can take up space. A little bit of a problem might be flying and transport.
However, if you add it as checked baggage, most hard shell cases would certainly be accepted by the TSA.
Cases with Soft Shells
Alternatively, more to your liking, you can find a soft shell box.
These are produced from fabrics that tend to be sturdy and hard to break, such as neoprene, nylon, or almost any cloth.
On the outside, this would be soft but would have padding strong enough to absorb some impact from being lowered at some heights.
Transport and portability would be better since they are small in weight in most of these cases.
However, it can damage the pistol if the drop is much higher (i.e. 10 feet) and even cause certain pieces to break.
Another downside is that, relative to their hard-shelled equivalents, these cases will not be as waterproof.
How to pick a case for your AR-15 pistol
It is important to know when to discern from a great pistol case and one that is low-quality and flimsy.
This list is going to give you a clear idea about what to pick.
Bear in mind that you should perceive this to be a long-term investment.
You want it to last you for a long time and for years to come, or even decades to come, to be accurate.
This is quite distinct from trying to go through all of them in a year or two.
What you should be searching for is here:
Soft Shell or Hard Shell
Their priorities are among certain AR-15 gun users. Some prefer a hard shell and some like a shell that’s soft.
There’s a question: where are you standing? Do you want to use your weapon to travel?
Or is there anything you need for fast transport? Your choice would be focused on your own desires and needs.
Consider the case styles above if you’re a first-time customer, because you can get a decent sense of what to expect if you’re having trouble choosing.
The components used to produce those cases should be of the highest standard so that, as opposed to simply being ripped apart or damaged, they have a good chance of lasting a long time.
Any of them would be built out of polymer if you’re searching for a hard case.
Some may be made from aluminum-like metal components.
Nonetheless, they are both known to be strong materials that are difficult to damage.
Some fabrics that are used include nylon and neoprene for soft shells.
They are both softer silicone equivalents and they are more resilient and less prone to wear and tear during a shorter period of time.
Cost & Price
If you’re a budget shopper, chances are that on your end, the price would actually be a determining factor.
It is important that you still look at other aspects when you search for cases that suit into your price point.
For starters, find out from which materials the case is made. The stronger the material’s quality, the longer it can survive.
In terms of pricing, find the finest you can afford, and never settle for a case only because of its inexpensive price tag.

Pistol Cases: Pros and Cons
Although there are some benefits that many will appreciate with pistol cases, there are are some drawbacks that you will also need to consider.
Here are some of the pros and cons of these pistol cases that are common:
It’s always nice to have a pistol case that will hold your trusty AR-15 pistol with you, if you’re going for the range or crossing state lines on the route.
However, you may need to find a case that is TSA-approved that can be checked for most bagged luggage if you’re flying by air.
Many of the soft-shell cases are lightweight and would be more suited for road trips.
Offers additional protection
You don’t allow someone to gain keys to your AR-15 gun.
That’s why you’re going to need a case to safely lock it up so you can keep someone without your permission from accessing or utilizing your AR-15 weapon.
It would therefore mean that, due to inadequate protection, serious accidents or fatalities are avoided.
It’s quick & easy to clean Hard Shell cases
Many hard shell cases are constructed of silicone or other synthetic materials that can not be affected by water easily.
Everything it will take is a wet washcloth to clean away some dirt, dust, or something else might dirty the case.
Fortunately, most hard shell cases are water-resistant or entirely waterproof (meaning that the water would not leak through the case itself if submerged).
Hard cases are challenging for transportation
Hard cases can be hard all around, but in one other way, they are still heavy (and it’s not a good one).
Owing to the fact that they are a little heavier in weight than their soft shell equivalent, they can be difficult to move or bring around.
Some of them will have wheels that make it a bit easier to transport them.
Some, though, have no wheels available, rendering the transport and transport aspect a little difficult.
Soft Shells could not be adequately stable
Although hard shells are likely to take padlocks to make sure the case is securely locked, soft shell padlocks might be only for aesthetics.
They do not have the same kind of defense as they should.
That’s why you’re going to need to position it high up and safe from the sight of kids if you have a soft shell pistol case.
It doesn’t have to be a struggle to find the right AR-15 pistol case.
If you are searching for one that can give you the absolute safety and protection you need while your AR-15 pistol is not used, then you will need a case that is durable, secure, and capable of keeping it from being damaged when it is put away.
Also, consider having a carrying case from one place to the next that will be easy for you to transport.
It might be when you’re on holiday or on your regular trip to the city.
Select one that better matches your particular desires and preferences, and as long as possible, you will have one that will last you.

SIG SAUER SSG 3000 Target with bag and RWS ammunition
“I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse” is a quotation from the glorious US film classic “The Godfather” by Francis Ford Coppola and fits like a glove with the latest offer from the North German quality manufacturer SIG SAUER from Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein.
The sniper rifle SSG 3000 in the standard caliber .308 Winchester (7,62x51mm) is offered for 2.799 Dollar.
In the latest offer the customer receives a practical designed SIG SAUER “Double Rifle Bag” transport bag made of Cordura nylon as well as 100 cartridges of the premium match ammunition RWS 168 grains Target Elite free of charge.
This is the specific weapon SIG SAUER SSG 3000 Target, for which the above mentioned special offer with bag and 100 rounds of RWS 100 grains ammunition is valid.
So that you do not buy “the cat in the bag”, it is worth reading the test report of the caliber editorial staff:
The SSG 3000 from Northern Germany is one of the classics among precision repeater rifles.
We could test it already two decades ago. We also put the refreshed new version “Target” with integral MIL-STD-1913 picatinny mounting rail instead of screwed-on 11 mm prism rail on the top of the system box for scope mounting through its paces – with very promising results.
The current SIG SAUER SSG 3000 target is based on a steel system housing.
The front sleeve bridge of the one-piece breech housing does not have an internal thread into which the barrel is screwed, but is smoothly drilled to a 27 mm fit.
On the underside, the sleeve bridge is slotted lengthwise.
Across the slotted part, three holes are drilled on the right side, which are provided with an internal thread on the left side.
Three M6 hexagon socket screws of the highest quality grade 12.9 can be used to reduce the gap and clamp the barrel in place.
This design allows the barrel to be changed by the user himself within a few minutes.
For example, the optional .22 Long Rifle changing system can be used for inexpensive and precise shooting in training and competition.
According to our many years of experience, the barrel exchange is very repeatable and does not involve any significant shifting of the meeting point.
It is recommended to keep to the order in which the three barrel clamping screws should be tightened, as well as to use a torque wrench with a defined tightening force of 10 to 12 Nm.
If necessary, the hexagon socket supplied can be tightened until it springs slightly.
The cylinder lock with six locking nipples in three groups of two pairs each locks directly in the barrel, so that no direct gas pressure forces are transmitted to the system box.
The cold-hammered match barrel made of chrome-molybdenum steel, decorated with five flutes and a flicker tape mount, comes from in-house production and has an impressive length of 650 mm, if the muzzle compensator integrated in the barrel is included in the calculation.
Otherwise, the effective barrel length is 626 mm, which promises 20 to 30 m/s higher bullet velocities compared to shorter standard barrel lengths in this caliber and could be of interest especially for long range shooters.
The extension at the barrel root contains the counter bearing for the locking lugs of the breech chamber.
The barrel tapers from 27.2 mm at the chamber to 19.3 mm at the muzzle.
Already 20 years ago, the SSG 3000 had a barrel profile with four clockwise rotating rifling grooves/fields and a twist length of 1-12″ (305 mm).
Today, the reduced number of slides is being promoted because of the longer barrel life and less maintenance.
The system lay absolutely free of play in its bedding in the sleekly styled, black lacquered shaft made of multi-bonded plywood.
Grippy hallmarks in the area of the steep pistol grip and the forend increase the handling comfort.
New is the adjustable cheek rest with quick height adjustment and scale.
By pressing the button on the right side of the stock, the adjustment mechanism is activated and any settings found can be quickly reproduced using the scale.
The stock length is still adjusted by mounting additional spacers on the shooter.
It is a bit old-fashioned, but in view of the fact that a sporty rifle shooter usually only adjusts the length of his rifle once.
An ISFF rail is embedded in the underside of the fore-end, where you can mount the usual accessories.
On shutter release
The fume cupboard unit including safety device is mounted with two pins under the system box.
The pressure point trigger can be adjusted not only in the weight between 1,200 and 1,700 grams, but also in the trigger tongue position and in the diarrhea path.
The trigger of our test weapon was set at the factory to 1,680 grams, whereby one already consumes around 1,100 to 1,200 grams in the preferred travel to the pressure point, so that in the actual phase of shot release only around 500 grams of trigger weight are required.
A light firing pin and a short firing pin travel of only 5.5 mm ensure a fast shot development time.
The safety is located inside the trigger guard in front of the trigger and can be released ergonomically without any need to reach around.
The safety can only be released when the lock is cocked with the slide mounted on the right side behind the chamber sear.
The safety acts on the trigger and the locking chamber, which cannot be opened in the locked position.
The single-row case magazine with capacity for five .308 Winchester cartridges is made of stamped sheet metal parts, the butt edges at the rear are neatly folded into each other.
The feeder is made of black Teflon-coated plastic, which allows it to slide and is under the pressure of a spiral spring.
The magazine body tapers in the shoulder area of the cartridge cases, which is to prevent cartridge movement due to the recoil forward and thus the unintentional cartridge shortening.
This eliminates the danger of a possible increase in gas pressure and the bullet tips are not damaged.
Nevertheless, .30-06 Springfield caliber cartridges can also be accommodated in this magazine, because the total cartridge length can be up to 88 mm, which gives reloaders a lot of leeway in designing the hand-loaded ammunition.
The SIG SAUER SSG 3000 in shooting practice
The SIG SAUER SSG 3000 Target in .308 Winchester equipped with a Leupold VX3 rifle scope 8.5-25×50 was convincing in the test and met the expectations.
The three top scattering circles we achieved measured just 8, 9 and 11 millimeters.
The single best result of 8 millimeters was achieved with the MEN factory ammunition with 168 grains Sierra MatchKing HPBT bullet, whereas our handheld ammunition with 40 grains Hodgdon Benchmark Propellant and 168 grains Hornady HPBT projectile (9 mm) and also the Hornady factory ammunition with 168 grains A-Max bullet (11 mm) were only slightly “worse”.
The Hodgdon Benchmark Powder is a versatile, finely metered universal powder that has served us well in the .308 Winchester caliber.
The fact that three of our handheld laboratories of all people revealed only modest precision values above the 20 mm limit is due to the fact that they were simply too fast as maximum charges on the short 100 meter distance.
Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, a calculated average precision of 16.1 mm with 10 types of ammunition is a respectable result and testifies to the fact that the SIG SAUER SSG 3000 Target Match Rifle has a high ammunition compatibility and shoots first-class with many types.
As always, all other results can be taken from the comprehensive ballistics table.
The refurbished, new SIG SAUER SSG 3000 Target precision rifle is of top workmanship, functions perfectly and shoots superbly with a wide range of ammunition.
And we know from experience that the rifle also works very well with the RWS Target Elite offered in the package.
