It can be a struggle to find the right Walther P22 magazine. But if you buy a Walther P22 pistol and you might get weary of factory default magazines, in a new magazine, you’ll definitely need to know what you want. If you have a clear understanding of how a magazine operates, you can consider the quest simple for you.
For concealed carry and home security, the Walther P22 gun is definitely one of the strongest handguns. Though it’s not like the kind that James Bond uses in the films, when you need it most, it’s still a small concealable gun that will be accurate. To still supply you with a decent amount of firepower, you require a magazine.
That’s why we put together three of the best magazines that match your Walther P22 weapon the in best way possible. We’ll speak about what magazine size is best for your firearm before we get to the rundown we explain you what features make a magazine better for this weapon than the rest of the bunch.
What magazine size is ideal?
The quick answer: it depends. It will rely on your magazine’s capacity for rounds. Some larger-capacity magazines appear to be a little longer in length. If there are smaller rounds, they would be far shorter in size. The size depends on your own tastes and how many rounds you feel are right for you.
The normal capacity would be adequate if you’re a concealed carry owner. More rounds may be a smart choice if you are a targets shooter or professional shooter, and thus may require a longer length.
What Makes a Walther P22 Magazine great?
There are several features that cause a magazine to stand out from the crowd. Granted, there are a number of magazines available on the market that suit the Walther P22.
But a few of them can not even carry a candle that we are about to study to the top three. Here are some of the features that you can search for before picking your own magazine:
Although it might not be a tangible aspect, for certain consumers, a fantastic magazine will arrive at an inexpensive price. Other than the price tag, the key factor you ought to pay attention to is the overall consistency and efficiency.
Still adhere by the maxim of getting the right product for your budget that is affordable. Owing to a low price tag, never skimp on standards.
The right materials that can guarantee the magazines last a long time are still found by producers. All must be in very decent condition from the inner workings to the outside, because it needs to last a long period of time (so long as you take proper care of it).
Many magazines, for example, would be constructed of a polymer and steel mix. The hardest and most robust products in the industry are proven to be these two materials.
How many rounds are you going to need? What would fit better with your pistol application? Those are the problems you’ll always want to ask yourself before you settle on a magazine.
It comes down, again to personal tastes. However you would definitely need to find one that would have more rounds at your hands if you are using it for an application such as competitive shooting.

This factory replacement magazine would be your best choice if you are searching for a magazine that will be inexpensive and offer you ample rounds for every application your Walther P22 will take on.
This magazine is indestructible, lightweight, and durable, and would not lead you wrong as long as you take proper care of it.
Aspects to watch out for when buying the Best Walther P22 magazine
While you have a range of attributes to search for in a magazine, prior to buying a magazine for your Walther P22, there are several additional things that you should remember. It is important to pay attention to them because in your final purchase decision they might be significant. Here’s what you need to know about:
How many of them do I need?
One could never be adequate when it comes to magazines. So you should entertain the thought of buying several magazines.
The explanation is that one of them could end up jamming, especially when you use it. To ensure you are able to swap one out in case of tragedy strikes, you can bring additional magazines.
Should I buy an Extender?
10 rounds is the normal number of rounds in a Walther P22 magazine. For other users, it may not be enough. You should consider purchasing a magazine extender in that situation, so you can expand the capacity. You should skip this if you do not require anymore.
Are these Conceal Carry able?
The Walther P22, as are our Best Walther P22 magazines, is by far one of the finest handguns for concealed carrying purposes that you can use. If you care about having it out of plain sight, you do not need a larger magazine. That’s why you need to determine which is the right magazine size for you.
Never go much more than 10 rounds if you want lightweight and portable (with the possibility of a magazine expansion, which can maintain the size of the gun but with more firepower).
If you want a magazine for your Walther P22, what you’ll need might be one of the three listed above. Getting a good magazine (or several amounts) would be what you’ll like, whether it’s for self-defense or a day on the range.
These are the magazines that won’t sacrifice your concealability, but when and when you need it most they will give you some outstanding firepower.
Walther pistol P22Q in caliber .22 lfB
The new rimfire pistol of the legendary German manufacturer transfers the professional look of the 9 mm PPQ into the small caliber range.
Since Carl Walther GmbH has been part of the Umarex Group, it has been devoting increased attention to the small caliber market. The KK versions of Colt, HK and Uzi products are enjoying increasing popularity worldwide. It is wrongly forgotten that Walther had set the worldwide trend with small caliber variants of its own products. The P22 was the small caliber version of the P99. Since then, the P22 was the milestone for Walther and has developed further just like the P99 and our Best Walther P22 magazines.
The latest version is called P22Q, which our Best Walther P22 Magazines support. It has adopted the ergonomic improvements of the new Walther PPQ service pistol. The PPQ was introduced at the SHOT Show 2012.
Like the P22, the P22Q is a downscaled small caliber version, but can do a little more. The P22Q locks with a simple ground lock and feeds the cartridges with a single row magazine. It holds ten .22 lfB caliber cartridges. Unlike the PPQ, the P22Q does not have a firing pin lock, but ignites with an external cock. On the slide you will also find the safety wing (again).
The Walther P22Q has a polymer grip with ergonomic shape. The grip backs are exchangeable. In the front there is a rail for attaching tactical lights. The slide is made of stainless steel. The magazine release lever and the safety wing can be operated from both sides. The front sight is fixed, the rear sight is adjustable laterally and in height. The slide has milling at the front and rear.
The P22Q is available in four versions, all can be upgraded with our Best Walther P22 Magazines : the “standard” is available with blued or nickel-plated slide. It is 16 cm long and has an 8.8 cm long barrel. A special version called “Digital Camo” has a black slide and a grip with pixel camouflage surface, but is otherwise identical in construction.
The “Target” version is available with burnished or blank slide. It has a 12.8 cm long barrel with compensator. A red dot target can also be attached to a rail. Interestingly, the “Target Kit” is also available in accessory shops for the “standard” version. It consists of the longer barrel with compensator and can be attached to any P22Q to upgrade, as the Best Walther P22 magazines are, it to a “perfect shooting machine” within minutes. Sport shooters will be happy about this.
Finally, the P22Q-IL is made for women and other people with smaller hands who want to defend themselves with this weapon. The market here is mainly the USA. Unlike the standard version, the P22Q-IL has a visible red laser in the grip. With a Torx key its alignment can be easily corrected.
The P22Q is already available, as are the Best Walther P22 magazines, on some markets in Europe. Depending on the version, the sales price is about 300 US dollars or more. The other markets should follow, ask your dealer.
Walther P22: General info
The Walther P22 is a semiautomatic pistol made by Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen in Germany. In the United States, distribution is through Walther America, a joint partnership with the Smith & Wesson Firm.
Two different versions of this firearm are available. There is a 3.4′′ (87 mm) barrel in the regular Walther P22, while there is a 5.0′′ (127 mm) barrel in the Walther P22 Target with a barrel-mounted weight compensator that suits the slide profile.
The barrels are readily compatible between the two versions, and Walther directly sold products that contained all barrels in the past. These mix bundles are no longer available directly from the maker, although certain retailers offer a cheaper kit of both barrels to make up for this.
The factory’s colour choices are various. The P22 Black is the regular variant with a blue slide and a black case. With a nickel-finished slip, the P22 Nickel has the same black base. Combined with the regular black slide, the P22 Military has an olive drab base. An anthracite (marbled grey) frame with a brushed chrome surface on the slide is paired with the P22 Anthracite/Brushed Chrome.
The external configuration of the Walther P22 quite strongly matches the lightweight Walther PK380, a .380 ACP calibre pistol, but is much lighter. There are 10 rounds of magazine capacity, you can find 15 rounds magazines in our Best Walther P22 Magazines ranking and it is a single-stack style. A drop, thumb-operated, ambidextrous protection, and an external hammer are installed. Unlike other semi-automatic weapons produced in the United States, the magazine release is of a particular nature. The P22 has an ambidextrous magazine release lever situated at the rear of the trigger guard instead of a magazine release button mounted on the grip.
A similarly crafted magazine release for the Best Walther P22 Magazines is required for many other Walther semi-automatic handguns (such as the aforementioned PK380 and the P99). The magazine for the P22 has been updated by Walther as the initial version was very vulnerable to feed failures.
The first iteration changed the feed ears and inserted a 3/8″ slot, causing the rounds to stagger when they reach the magazine’s tip. The second revision lengthened the stagger slot to 1″ to further boost cartridge feeding efficiency. The third revision (and latest as of 2011) has a tall retaining nub for the spring and is constructed of somewhat thicker material.
The P22 has a traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger, which ensures that the first shot should be fired with the uncocked hammer, first cocking the hammer with the double-action trigger. In the double-action configuration, the trigger pull is around 12 lbs., while in the single-action mode, it is about 5 lbs.
A magazine disconnect for the Best Walther P22 Magazines is fitted with this firearm and will not shoot until a magazine is correctly seated in the pistol.
